DAY 11 • Tetouan Discover Tetouan , a UNESCO World Heritage Site . We ’ ll visit the Royal Palace ( which the royal family still inhabits ), walk through the lively medina , then stop at an artisan shop to observe local craftsmen at work . After lunch , we return to Tangier .

DAY 12 • Casablanca • Cooking class Explore Casablanca on an included tour , which will take us to the Hassan II Mosque , one of the most splendid mosques in the world . We ’ ll also visit the city market to mingle with locals as they go about their daily business ,

On Day 18 , set off on a 4x4 drive through the mountains , calling upon the tiny villages that nest in Madeira ’ s foothills , and observing the levada irrigation channels the locals use to sustain their crops before heading to a local restaurant for a crash course in Moroccan cooking and an included lunch .

DAY 13 • Safi • A Day in the Life of a local village From our berth in Safi , we ’ ll drive into the countryside to spend A Day in the Life of a local village , where we ’ ll join a family for a tour of their home , and help out with some hands-on activities around the house , such as tending to livestock , preparing a meal in the kitchen , or making pottery . We ’ ll also share a meal for an afternoon of authentic cuisine and cultural exchange .

DAY 14 • Marrakesh Tour the bustling streets of Marrakesh , including the markets of the medina and souk , as well as the Koutoubia minaret , the tallest structure of the city . We ’ ll also visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa , which was once the largest Koranic school in North Africa .

DAY 15 • Agadir • Paradise Valley Our ship docks in the resort town of Agadir today , from which we ’ ll board 4x4 vehicles and drive out into the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains to visit Paradise Valley , a lush oasis replete with palm trees , waterfalls , and mountain gorges . En route to the oasis , we ’ ll visit a botanical garden ; upon arrival at Paradise Valley , we ’ ll set out for a gentle hike along the mountain trails before returning to our ship .

DAY 16 • Day at sea We ’ ll spend a full day at sea as we sail to Madeira . Meals : B , L , D | M / V Corinthian
DAY 17 • Madeira , Portugal • Disembark ship • Funchal
We ’ ll disembark the ship and say farewell to the crew in the autonomous Portuguese archipelago of Madeira . Then , we ’ ll explore the capital city of Funchal with a local guide , including the Old Town , the city farmers ’ market , and one of the oldest wineries on the island .

DAY 18 • Levada walk We ’ ll begin this morning with a walk along a levada , a man-made irrigation channel dating back to the 16th century and designed to support local agriculture . Then we ’ ll drive off the beaten path in 4x4 vehicles to visit the remote villages of the island countryside .

DAY 19 • Return to U . S . Transfer to the airport for your flight home , or begin your Portugal : Aveiro & Porto post-trip extension .
