DAY 7 • Santiago Island , Cape Verde • The Plateau Spend the day exploring Santiago Island , Cape Verde ’ s largest island . We ’ ll visit the Plateau , the island ’ s historic center of the capital city of Praia . Then , journey to Cape Verde ’ s former capital , Cidade Velha , to visit the fortress of São Filipe .

DAY 8 • Sal • Explore salt crater • Shark Bay • Botanical Garden
Arrive in Sal , a Cape Verde island ringed in white-sand beaches . Here , you ’ ll visit the Pedra de Lume salt mine , which is located in the crater of an extinct volcano . This afternoon , spot small lemon sharks in the shallow waters of Shark Bay and enjoy time to swim in the island ’ s natural pools .

DAY 9 • Santo Antão • Visit local farm in Janela This morning , arrive in Santo Antão , the westernmost island of Cape Verde that ’ s known for its lush interior and verdant mountains . DAY 10 • Santo Antão • Estrada A Corda scenic drive
Begin the day driving through Estrada A Corda , a scenic mountain road that offers the most beautiful views of Cape Verde . Then , we ’ ll cross over Cova National Park and enjoy panoramic views of Cova de Paúl , the largest volcanic crater in all of Cape Verde that soars more than 3,000 feet into the air .
