NATHAN: It’s a very transient town, so you end up with a lot of people from a lot of different places who are drawn to live here for various reasons - the same reasons we all love living here. When you get so many people from so many different places in one spot, you get lots of different ideas coming together and people start to think, hey, this might work here! Maybe that’s it. JUNE: The Cairns community offers many opportunities for locals and local businesses to be successful. 5. What are your goals for your business over the next 5 years? PAIGE: We have just added two new services to our menu which I’m really excited about. I will be announcing these towards the beginning of August! My long term goals are a secret; you’ll have to wait and see... NATHAN: You mean aside from surviving? *Laughs* Our real goal is to keep making sure our clients are having a good time and that they are enjoying their events. There has been a lot of growth in the corporate market in the event space, so we’re looking forward to seeing more of that. But as far as goals go, we just want to keep on trucking. JUNE: Our aim is to produce outstanding dancers of the highest standard, whether it be pursuing dance as a career or simply for the love of dance. 6. What advice do you have for someone who would like to start their own business, or what do you wish you would’ve known before you started yours? PAIGE: Believe in yourself and love what you do. If you believe you can you will, and if you enjoy what you do it’ll show and the rest will fall into place. Dream big and most importantly never give up! NATHAN: You really have to understand how much hard work it is. A lot of people think it will be easy. It’s not until you get right into it that you realise how hard it actually is. And even one like mine - going to parties, having a good time, and getting to have a drink with your clients - is a lot of hard work during the week. Just don’t underestimate the amount of hard work you’ll have to do to get it rolling. But when it is rolling, enjoy it and make the most of it. JUNE: Have a good support team with a good knowledge of business and be sure to follow your dream. AUG | SEP 2019 | 29
