How are your New Year’s Resolutions
going? This is traditionally a time when
we talk about hopes and dreams -
holidays, house renovations, getting fit,
buying a new car. But we often fail in
the steps to get there because we don’t
have a plan, or we don’t break this plan
up into manageable tasks.
As a physiotherapist specialising
in chronic pain and headaches, the
dreams which I make come true are
slightly different. Throughout my career,
I’ve taught stroke victims how to walk
again; rehabilitated a grandmother
so she could go to the beach with her
grandkids; and enabled people with
debilitating symptoms return to their
social lives, free of headaches, nausea
and dizziness. Everybody comes for
physiotherapy with the hope that they
will get some answers and recover
from their pain or injury; yet some don’t
achieve this. Those who don’t get better,
