Wedding fashion changes as often as the
seasons, but is more subtle than other
types of fashion.
In 2018, we will see weddings flowers
and bouquets move away from featuring
lots of greenery (Pantone’s 2017 Colour
of the Year) to this year’s very popular
colour of “Ultra Violet”.
All shades of purple will make a
resurgence this year with “ultra violet”
the stand-out colour.
Wild bouquets that look thrown together
actually require a lot of technical work
which is best done by a qualified florist
to achieve this look.
Also making a resurgence in popularity
is the cascade style bouquet. Florists
create this style with lots of wiring and
technical skills to achieve a gorgeous
cascade.
If a traditional bouquet is not for you then
consider placing your wedding flowers
into a Bolsa Flora base. There are many
shapes to choose from allowing a wide
variety of designs.
Wearing florals is definitely on trend to
compliment the bouquets or in some
cases instead of them. Flower crowns
or floral headpieces look stunning in the
hair when considering hair styles for a
co-ordinated look.
Brides will choose to have their
bouquets lashed with luscious satin
or silk ribbons with long tails. Dainty
corsages look beautiful on the wrist
but some corsage designs are literally
creeping up the arm giving new meaning
to wearable florals!
And men don’t miss out of florals
either. Buttonholes (or boutonnieres)
are usually designed to match the
wedding parties’ flowers. Alternatively,
floral bow ties are delicate but bold and
will certainly make a statement for the
groom.
The cost of wedding bouquets can be
managed by choosing seasonal flowers.
And as always, local florists are more
than happy to provide advice in this area.
