People Who Help Us: Chinese’s New Year: Nursery had a special visit from a nurse from our local Luton & Dunstable Hospital who came in to talk to us about the work she does in the hospital and how she make people feel better. She then demonstrated how she puts on a bandage when people have fallen down and have hurt themselves. On February 8th millions of people around the world celebrated Chinese New Year. This year is the Year of the Monkey. The nursery children learned about how Chinese people prepare for and celebrate this New Year Spring Festival. Children were tasting different Chinese foods all week and they also enjoyed dressing up and exploring different things in the room that were set up relating to Chinese New Year. Healthy Eating Session: During our cooking activities we have a week where we encourage the children to eat healthy snacks as we feel this supports a lot of our parents at home. Children are taught about all the vitamins they will get in their body just by eating healthy good food like fruits and vegetables and how some foods can help make their bones stronger. British Wildlife Photography Exhibition The nursery children visited the British Wildlife Photography Exhibition at the Discovery Centre, Stockwood Park. This visit helped to support the children’s understanding of British wildlife animals that they have been learning about in nursery. The children really enjoyed themselves and were fascinated with the information they found out and the beautiful photographs that they saw.
