Summer Features and Advertisers
Dear Readers,
Whew – we’ve just put together our summer calendar
and every year there are more and more fun things to
do! We’ve got festivals, art shows, concerts and just
plain old playing in the parks!
Here are some ideas. Want to have all the fun of
the Chicago Air & Water Show (on Aug. 15 & 16)
without the big crowds? Then head to the Rockford
Air Fest on June 6-7. For something different on Father’s Day (June 21st this
year), try Eli’s Cheescake World Bike Ride. On June 27-28, don’t miss the
Little Boots Rodeo or the LEGO® Pirate Weekend.
The 4th of July weekend offers festivals all over the area, including the Arlington Heights Frontier Days Festival and the Windy City Ribfest in Uptown.
Have a Sundae in the Park in Northbrook on July 12, or go to the Lisle Family
Fun Fest on July 24. You can go to a different festival every weekend!
August brings us the World of Faeries Festival in Elgin on Aug. 1-2, the Kite
Festival at the Chicago Botanic Gardens on Aug. 8-9 and the Wrigleyville
Summerfest on Aug. 8-9. Add in an outdoor concert at your local park and a
flick & float movie at the pool, and your summer will be in full swing.
You’ll find all of these events and tons more in our calendar sections, with
new events added daily to our searchable web calendar. Don’t forget to print
a coupon to your favorite museum, water park or mini-golf place before you
head out the door.
Oaklee’s has everything you need to keep your summer productive, enriching, and most of all, FUN! It was only a few months ago that we were battling the 5th biggest snowstorm on record in February 2015, so now it’s time
to get out of the house and create wonderful summer memories. After all,
summer is the most fleeting season in Chicago, so go make the most of it!
