Use Lunch and Doodle to add an hour to a morning or afternoon camp or to create a full day camp experience when signing up for both the morning and afternoon camps. Gorton Community Center, 400 East Illinois Road: We are excited to once again offer our Safety Town Commanders Camp - modeled after the original Safety Town, but with a curriculum built for ages 8-10. Camp will run Aug. 13, 14 and 15 from 12:30-4pm. The camp starts with a quick review of the original Safety Town (now called Majors) and then goes in-depth with experts in areas ranging from fire safety to internet safety and beyond. Topics will cover many categories pertinent to this age group including what to do if your alarm goes off, gun safety, walking home alone, falls, poison/medicine safety, bullying/ cyber bullying and mindfulness. Children will be taught things like how to use a fire extinguisher and how to navigate safely in today’s cyber world.
