From the Executive Officer
One of the highlights every year on the NYSB calendar is the Future All – Stars Weekend . In this edition you will read a small sample of the impact that this weekend has had on hundreds of young people . As a NYSB member who has participated in the Future All-Stars Weekend since its inception , I would like to testify that this weekend has also had a great impact on the band .
To sit among these young people each year is such a blessing . To hear their testimonies is inspiring . To witness their talents and their willingness to glorify the Lord is amazing . Being able to sit with them and discuss and pray about their walk with the Lord is a privilege .
Psalm 145:4 says , “ One generation shall commend your works to another , and shall declare your mighty acts .” That is truly what this weekend is all about . Although , learning new skills musically and getting to play with the New York Staff Band is certainly a very large part of what happens . Our real desire is that the young people that participate will learn from us about the God we serve and that they will learn that glorifying and praising Him through the playing of instruments is an honor worthy of our best efforts . Oh , and it ’ s pretty fun too !
