Nyctalopia 1 | Page 2

Nyctalopia, also known as night blindness is an example of a vision impairment. This impairment causes poor vision at night and in dim environment. That happens because of the degeneration of rods (light-sensitive cells in the retina). The rods detect dim light in black and white. When they degenerate, (due to reasons explained futher into the magazine) your eye can no longer detect the image being formed in dim light. As a result, the image will not be recieved by the receptor and will not travel along the optic nerve to the brain.
