IEP College Reading and Writing
This course develops learners’ reading and writing
strategies in academic and informal genres through a
critical examination of readings, utilizing the writing
process to refine their writing at the paragraph and
essay level. This course is completed concurrently
with IEP College Listening & Speaking, and college
level courses, as well as serves as a transitions
pathway into full-time college level coursework.
IEP College Listening and Speaking
This course will build the learners’ listening and
speaking skills in both academic and informal
contexts. Learners will investigate the interaction
of grammatical form, meaning, and use, listen to
lectures, build note-taking skills, and participate in
group discussions on both academic and informal
topics in English, increasing their ability to conduct
classroom discussions with appropriate language.
Listening for main ideas and supporting details,
building conversational fluency, and developing
pronunciation are the main skills emphasized in
this course. Learners will also develop formal
presentation skills and deliver speeches on academic
topics. This course is completed concurrently with
IEP College Reading and Writing, and college level
courses, as well as serves as a transitions pathway
into full-ti me college level coursework.
College Level 2
(TOEFL pb 498-519, ibt 61-67, IELTS 6.0)
IEP College Reading and Writing
This course develops learners’ reading and writing
strategies in academic and informal genres through a
critical examination of readings, utilizing the writing
process to refine their writing at the paragraph and
essay level. This course is completed concurrently
with college level courses and prepares for complete
transition into mainstream college level courses.
