How are dual credit courses recognized at the high school and at other academic institutions ?
• In most cases these credit options will be recognized as dual credit , awarding credit in both high school and college . See Transfer section on page 13 for details .
• These credits will be recognized at NWTC if you meet the grade requirements determined .
• If you choose to attend outside of NWTC , you will need to request that your NWTC transcript be evaluated for credit at the college you plan to attend . It is up to the receiving institution how they take in credits .
What are grades based upon ?
• Grades are awarded based upon college level scales , which define student expectations .
Who is my contact person to initiate the dual credit process ?
• Your child ’ s high school counselor or NWTC career coach is the best person to answer questions or connect with you about dual credit opportunities .
Can a student outside of the state of Wisconsin participate in dual credit courses ? What about private school districts or students who are home schooled ?
• For transcripted credit and Advanced Standing courses , students from school districts outside of the state of Wisconsin may participate .
• Start College Now and Youth Apprenticeship are programs available for school districts within the state of Wisconsin only . Start College Now is a Department of Public Instruction Program for public school districts . Youth Apprenticeship is a Department of Workforce Development Program for Wisconsin school districts . NWTC may be able to provide similar offerings to Michigan school districts , tribal school districts , home school students and private school districts under a third-party contract .
