Heating , ventilation , air conditioning , and refrigeration ( HVAC / R ) technicians install , service , troubleshoot , and repair HVAC / R systems used for the environmental control of buildings and product processes . This includes work on a wide variety of equipment types including residential ( homes ), commercial ( restaurants , of�ces , hotels ), institutional ( schools , hospitals ), and industrial ( manufacturing plants ).
