BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS continued

Great news – the NWHA Facebook following is up to 3100! T-shirts are being designed to promote the National Championship Show and celebrate 2026 as the Year of the Horse. Volunteers are being sought for the National Show. The charity for the National Show will be Canines for Warriors.
The Judges Committee has been hosting virtual training events on topics such as Racking Horses, Ranch Horse Class, and All Day Pleasure division. Monthly newsletters have been going out to highlight various aspects of judging criteria.
The Youth Committee has been busy with planning the events for the National and organizing a Youth Council.
Annual Meeting dates were discussed along with costsaving initiatives for the meeting.
Riding Program- Sandy Harris is working with the Thorson family to support a program to encourage participation in Western Riding and Reining, Showmanship and Equitation.
Region 2 and 7 showbills were approved.
May 2026
Officers and Staff- Emily Mahoney and Katie Engleman were appointed to serve in At-Large positions for the remainder of the year. Kimberly O’ Connor transferred to the position of Executive Director and Alex Ostrum was appointed to fulfill the position of treasurer until the fall election.
The National Show sponsorship form is completed and the Board will work to distribute it and secure sponsorships.
T-shirt design for the National shirts is finalized and those will be available in June through the NWHA store or at several regional shows.
Judges for the National Show ballot are being finalized and the electronic ballots will go out in June.
National Show Ads and News- The Board was encouraged to sell ads for the show program and provide content for the newsletter.
Grants are being written to help support the work of our organization.
Versatility patterns are being selected for the National Show and the show committee is working to find ways to reduce expenses.
The Youth Committee is working on a video competition and information will be going out soon.
Region 3 showbill was approved. Details for the Annual meeting are being finalized.
