Versatility / Dressage
The NWHA Versatility Committee has been hard at work perfecting the Patterns for the National Show. They will also be exploring Dressage Judges in order to pick the best for the National. Please remember to enter your horse in the All Around Versatility Program which allows riders to pick their classes in which they will compete. There will be a sign up form forthcoming. Also, new to 2025 National is the Equiskill Program. Compete in those Equitation Classes and have your pattern work averaged. Awards will be given to the 5 highest average participants in their combination of pattern work. Also this year, we will have two full days of Dressage, so we can accommodate 60 rides per day. We were lucky to have a gracious judge last year that judged 94 rides, with others that didn’ t get to compete. We look forward to seeing you compete in Versatility at the National.

Trail
Hi Everyone, I’ m Erin Demchko, the new chairperson for the Trail Committee for this year. I live in Eastern North Carolina, own a Tennessee Walking Horse and Spotted Saddle Horse, and do some showing and trail riding with those horses. Our board liaison is Alex Ostrum.
If you trail ride, you should join the Trail Riders Award Program( TRAP)! It is included in your membership cost or if you only want to have a TRAP membership, its just $ 25 for the year. You fill out a log for your mileage and can earn awards for your personal mileage and the rider, horse and youth rider who collect the most miles for the year will earn a belt buckle!
This year we are bringing back sanctioned trail rides, where a member can organize a trail ride, submit a form and pay a fee for the miles to count double towards the rider’ s and horse’ s totals. Members will have two opportunities to submit mileage logs during the year. Logs for mileage from December 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025 will be submitted by June 15. End of year totals for December 1, 2024 to November, 30 2025 will be submitted by December 15, 2025.
If you would like to join the TRAP committee, or have any ideas on how to make the program better, please e-mail me at NWHATRAP @ gmail. com. Once we have our committee established, we will look at some fundraising ideas, ways to make logging mileage easier, how to make the program more accessible, a possible rail to trail program and wherever else we want to take the program.
Looking forward to a great year! Erin Demchko, Chairperson
