Although it feels like 2023 has just ended , we turn around and it is already the middle of March , 2024 . It is that time of year when trail riding , showing and just getting out of our own barns and being out of the heavy and cumbersome winter wear begins . This is the time of year when we get to socialize with our longtime friends , plus the new ones we will make along the way this summer .
In January NWHA held our annual membership meeting , high point awards banquet , committee meetings and judges clinic . It was great to see the number of members able to attend this year despite the questionable weather that hit Nashville that weekend .
That same weekend was also the NWHA annual Board of Directors ’ retreat where planning is discussed for the upcoming year . This year we had three members that completed their terms and rolled off the Board . Amy Spinelli-Olsen ( sitting past President ), Susan Ellis ( Virginia ) and Sydney Deal ( Virginia ), who was filling a one year appointed term . I ’ d like to personally thank them all for their dedication to NWHA . We also welcomed two new members to the Board . Leah Terrell ( Indiana ) and Zach Parsons ( Tennessee ). It ’ s always exciting to have new fresh faces and hear some new ideas .
We have a number of new rule changes for this show season and some changes to the trail riding program . Please take the time to review the rulebook at NWHA . com to be sure you are aware of these changes . The changes have also been summarized on page 5 .
