DQP Updates

As a reminder :
• When presenting your entry in DQP , please hold your reins at least 18 inches from the bit , and nothing should be in your hands other than your reins ( no whips , spurs etc .), and refrain from any noise or action that could be used to distract your horse from the inspection process . This is considered “ Stewarding ” and is an offense that if violated , can be issued a ticket . The horse may also be disqualified from that class
• The DQP will not inspect an unruly horse . Your horse must be under full control when presented for inspection
• Any horse showing visible signs of sedation when presented for inspection will either be sent back to the barn or held to the side for a time out . The length of time is at the discretion of the DQP . Abnormal , exaggerated relaxed state including but not limited to drooping eyes / lips , stumbling , reluctance to lead , and lack of balance are all viable signs of sedation .
• It is mandatory that the correct back number is presented when you present your horse . If the number is missing or incorrect , then you must go to the end of the inspection line until the number / correct number is available
• The USDA allows the DQPs , the exhibitor , trainer , and one groom per horse in the warm-up ring . The DQPs have been asked to monitor this situation more closely in the 2022 season .
Thanking you in advance for observing these updates and reminders and looking forward to a great 2022 show season !
Respectfully , Peggy Moore , Director of DQP
