BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

JANUARY 4 , 2022
The financial report was given by Kathee McGuire .
National Show was discussed and the focus centered on the equality of class divisions .
The next edition of National News will be published after the awards banquet .
Plans were detailed for the 2022 Annual Meeting and Judges Clinic .
Election results were provided by Jim Potter . He reported that the ballot return was good .
Jim Potter discussed the hiring process for the new Office Manager .
Katie Helfrich presented an application for the Region 6 Regional Show and explained more Paso Fino classes were added .
The Rules Committee will review a question about youth riders being required to use stirrups .
JANUARY 21 , 2022
New board members Morgan Head , Jackie Dean and Mag Ranft were sworn in by Jean Marie Degville with President Jim Potter giving a special welcome .
Board Operations Overview was given by past president Amy Spinelli-Olson gave a
• High Point Program - Overall Versatility Horse competitors must show in three different categories of versatility events as listed in the high point chart and must accumulate 10 points in each of the three different categories for eligibility .
• Nominating Committee – Nominees must have been NWHA members for at least two previous consecutive calendar years . His or her recent experience on NWHA committees will weigh heavily in the selection process .
Committee Assignments were discussed .
• New Committees were added . News Committee and Marketing Committee
Sponsorships of Shows / Classes
• WHOA International Show - $ 750
• SSHBEA Fall Show - $ 750
• The Maiden Class at the International - $ 500
Rule Clarification was made to specifically require stirrups for youth .
Trial of WHTA Riders Cup Classes designated for 2022 National – 20 open classes in each division . Criteria and communication are currently being developed .
The National Show Committee announced that a day is being added to the schedule to ease the time constraints and spread out the versatility classes . The official start of show will be on Sunday instead of Monday .

SOP Changes were made :
• Regional Championship Show – Regional shows must not be affiliated with or sanctioned by any other horse industry organization without the approval of the Board of Directors ; any significant changes to the class list after the BOD has approved it , requires reapproval from the BOD ; application and class list must be approved by a vote of the BOD and applications must be submitted at least 90 days prior to show date .
