BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
AUGUST MEETING
President J. Potter called the meeting to order at 8:04 pm central time.
Review of July 2020 Minutes as distributed: Motion to approve the minutes by K. McGuire. 2nd by J. Finerfrock. Motion approved.
Financial Report by K. McGuire: Motion to approve financial report by J. Finerfrock. 2nd by M. Pacheco. Motion approved.
The 2020 National by K. Helfrich and M. Ranft: 79 stalls have been assigned. Still looking for one more staff member. Ribbons are ordered. $ 9,000 in sponsorships has been pledged; we are still $ 15,000 short.
NWHA News / Show Program by K. O’ Connor: The combined NWHA News / Show Program ads need to be in by August 28. All premium ad placements were sold except the front cover. If the front cover doesn’ t sell an“ NWHA 20 Year Anniversary” ad will be designed.
OTHER / Announcements:
• K. O’ Connor will send a list of current pledged sponsorships to board members.
• The Degville’ s have proposed a perpetual trophy in memory of their horse Lumiere. K. Helfrich made a motion to approve a perpetual trophy in Lumiere’ s memory for the Best in Show class at the National with the following payouts: $ 1000 for 1st place; $ 500 for 2nd place; and $ 250 for 3rd place. NWHA will be responsible for $ 750 and the Degville’ s will be responsible for $ 1000. 2nd by J. Nagel. Motion carried.
Motion to adjourn by J. Finerfrock. 2nd by K. Helfrich. Motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 8:47 pm Central time.
SEPTEMBER MEETING
President J. Potter called the meeting to order at 8:01 pm central time.
Review of August 2020 Minutes as distributed: Motion to approve the minutes by R. Lucareli. 2nd by J. Nagel. Motion approved.
Financial Report by K. McGuire: Motion to approve financial report by J. Finerfrock. 2nd by M. Springer. Motion approved.
The 2020 National by M. Ranft:
• $ 13,950 is pledged in sponsorships.
• The Champions Arena needs to be ready to set up for dressage by 4pm. Grounds need to be open Friday for early arrivals. Celebration arena personnel will be contacted.
• The T-shirt vendor from the International is interested in setting up a booth at the show. Show committee will investigate.
• Show Program went to the printer Friday. Posters will be made for sponsors.
• Masks and social distancing will be enforced in the office.
• S. Gibbs is bringing the flags.
NWHA News / Show Program by K. O’ Connor: November issue is the next issue.
OTHER / Announcements:
• Call for Nominations for 2021 offices will be sent to membership per SOP.
• Rule discussion: If an amateur who is an immediate family member of a Trainer rides customer horses, said family member shall be classified as a non-amateur based on rule 7.5.1a. The immediate family member is not an amateur, but a non-amateur and may not exhibit in any amateur classes. Furthermore, the definition and criteria in section 7.4 Non Amateur, item d supports the revocation of amateur status of such immediate family members. Reinstatement criteria will need to be reviewed and sent to rules committee for consideration and clarification.
