OCTOBER Meeting called to order by President A. Spinelli-Olson at 8:04 pm Eastern time. September 10, 2019 Minutes: Motion to approve the September minutes by K. Tanner. 2nd by K. McGuire. Motion approved. Financial Report by K. McGuire: Motion to approve the financial report by J. Potter. 2nd by M. Ranft. Motion approved. The 2019 National by K. Tanner & M. Ranft: There were 216 horses, up 93 horses from last year. Entries were over 300. Final figures are not in yet, but overall a profit was made. More exhibitors pre- registered this year and we had several new faces and trainers. Dressage had 107 entries and needs to start a day early in 2020. Merchandise and silent auction did well. Sixteen participated in the “New to Nationals” $25 fee. Issues were the condition of the stalls and arena footing. More helpers were needed in the office, set up and take down of center ring, dressage, versatility, and silent auction. For 2020 K. O’Connor will assume many of the show management duties. The 2020 National: Motion by J. Nagel to return to the Calsonic Arena in Shelbyville, TN for the 2020 National. 2nd by M. Pacheco. Motion approved. Youth Report 2019 National by K. McGuire: Youth participation was up. Rules Committee by K. O’Connor: Rules Committee is submitting the following changes for the 2020 Rule Book: Descriptions for the halt, back, lope, turn on the haunches, show walk for Racking horse, whip use in English Showmanship, and snaffles in rail classes for board approval. Board members will receive an email with the changes and need to review and vote before the next board call. 8 NWHA National News / November 2019 October 8, 2019 Model and In-Hand High Point Categories by K. Johnston: Model and In-Hand will remain as a versatility high point category. Beginning in 2019 they will be individual high point categories. Mailing High Point Awards by K. Johnston: Recipients receiving High Point awards not collected at the Annual Awards Banquet will be charged up to $10 to mail Ribbons and will be charged the actual mailing cost of trophy(s). The office will mail the award(s) and the recipient will be invoiced. This information will be included in the letters sent to high point recipients. 2020 Board of Directors: Nominating Committee is accepting applications for open positions. Communication is being sent to all members. Annual Meeting 2020 by S. Havard: Plans are ongoing. Request for Sponsorship for Eastern National 4H Round-Up Nov. 8-10, 2019: Motion by M. Ranft to sponsor $125 for a trophy. 2nd by J. Potter. Motion approved, Motion to adjourn by K. Tanner. 2nd by K. McGuire. Meeting adjourned at 11:30 pm Eastern time.
