NATIONAL WALKING HORSE ASSOCIATION
HIGH POINT AWARDS
The National Walking Horse Association presented their 2020 High Point and other awards via YouTube on January 30th , 2021 . The presentation highlighted each division ’ s / category ’ s Champions through 5th places . Accomplishments for NWHA ’ s trail programs , Competitive Horse Incentive Program ( CHIP ) and Trail Horse Incentive Program ( TRIP ), Dressage Horse of the Year ( DHOY ) Program and the Lifetime Superior Achievement Program ( LSAP ) were also showcased .
High Point horses that earned qualifying points in rail and versatility separately achieved overall rankings which resulted in the top three Rail and Versatility horses of 2020 . These two scores , Rail and Versatility , combined if qualified led to the 2020 Overall horse of the year , as well as a top 3 finisher achievements . JoEllen Finerfrock of Odum , GA captured the Overall Rail Horse of the Year aboard I ’ m Mick Jazzer . The Overall Versatility Horse of the Year was Magician ’ s Encore , owned by Katie Helfrich of Marion , TX . Katie and Magician ’ s Encore went on to top honors for their repeat of NWHA ’ s Overall Horse of the Year ! Congratulations to all ! Awards are shipping out free to all recipients this year !

Membership Awards
Youth of the Year - Caitlin and Claire Winstead of Leasburg , VA were privately nominated by NWHA members and then selected via vote by the youth committee as the dual Youth of the Year recipients . The Winstead ladies represent the highest level of dedication and support of the NWHA mission and organization by inspiring and educating others through leadership and community service to the NWHA and the sound walking horse .
Pegasus Award - Kimberly O ’ Connor In recognition by fellow NWHA members , Mrs . O ’ Connor has given outstanding service to the NWHA organization through donations of personal time , funds , and energy – helping NWHA to advance its mission for the horse . A former board member , Executive Committee Officer and now Executive Director for the past three years , she has continually provided service through outstanding contributions and exemplifies the cause for which NWHA stands .
