Statistical data for trail riding has shown that more than half of all riding is classified as trail or
recreational riding. In order to promote the gaited trail horse and support the need of the non-
showing or recreational rider who participates in trail events, the NWHA has created a Trail
Rider only membership.
This new membership is for Trail Riders who do not show and only wish to enjoy life out on the
trail or obstacle challenge events. The membership does not include regular membership ben-
efits such as member voting, high point or showing privileges.
It does permit participation in NWHA's two trail programs, Trail Rider Incentive Program (TRIP)
and the Competitive Horse Incentive Program (CHIP). Both programs are complimentary to all
members including the new trail members. Trail membership is an annual $25.00 fee.
