New and exciting items are in the works as we progress into this third month of the new decade. Com-
mittees are already busy establishing new teams and generating ideas for 2020. Anyone interested in
serving on a committee must be a NWHA member - join in the fun and let many hands make less work
for all of us, this is your organization! If you you still need to renew your NWHA membership, go to the
NWHA website to join or sign up at the next NWHA event. We recognize that strong programs drive
membership engagement and our Board and Committees work hard and continue to explore new ideas
and avenues for expansion. New ideas like the new Trail only membership for our non-showing, recre-
ational community of gaited horse riders. This new membership permits trail riders to participate in
our trail recognition programs only.
Our first horse show of the year has already concluded in the great state of Texas with a new NWHA
show – Corsicana. Corsicana handled by Show Secretary, Paula Sue Swope had 3 days of showing in-
cluding RMH, Friesian and Open Gaited Breed classes. A little something for everyone to enjoy. Up-
coming this later this month our first NWHA Regional kicks off in Theodore, Alabama at the Amazing
Gaits Equestrian Center on March 28th. NWHA will once again be in Columbus, OH with a booth at
Equine Affaire beginning April 2nd through the 5th. Check the NWHA Calendar on nwha.com or at our
Facebook page, Events to see what’s happening with shows, trail rides and other NWHA activities.
Please encourage NWHA membership among your horse groups and local club circles, membership
strength in numbers, provides an opportunity for all of us be the strongest possible advocates for our
breed. I look forward to working with you all this year, hearing about your experiences, and spending
time getting to know each of you throughout 2020.
