From the NWHA President
NWHA continues to operate debt‐free, allowing the organization to
provide greater value to its members and affiliated and sanctioned
events throughout the year. In 2017, NWHA eliminated the high point
nomination fee, and at the annual meeting the Board of Directors
announced the elimination of the CHIP enrollment fee in 2018. In
addition, the high point system was restructured to provide greater
consistency and more fluent year‐end point calculations.
We also discussed the final results of the All Day Pleasure and Country Pleasure survey at the
membership meeting. We received a great deal of insight, and as a result, cross entering between
Country Pleasure and All Day Pleasure will be prohibited at the National show beginning in 2018.
Membership input demonstrated strong support for membership or show card requirement in All
Day Pleasure as well. Beginning in 2018, a NWHA membership or Show Card will be required for All
Day Pleasure, creating consistency across all of our division requirements. To better streamline the
process, we have eliminated the Season Show Pass – as only five individuals utilized this option in
2017.
The dinner and awards banquet hosted many current and many first‐
time members from across the country. During the awards banquet,
NWHA awarded:
64 high point categories – nine more than previous year
Youth Achievement Award
Overall Rail Horse of the Year
Overall Versatility Horse of the Year
Overall Horse of the Year
Each year NWHA recognizes and individual for the Pegasus and Phoenix award. Our congratulations
to Mag Ranft and Roey Mobley for their achievements and support of the sound horse.
2018 has started strong – with significant membership and event growth – and it’s only the
beginning. Our sustained, strong financial performance backed by steady growth throughout the
year continues to advance NWHA forward.
