Celebrating NWHA ' s 20th Year Anniversary Junior Horse
Reminders
With twenty years of promoting and advocating for the sound horse, NWHA continues to strengthen and reaffirm our presence in the gaited horse community. The following NWHA Rules and Regulations or Operational actions have been approved by the Board of Directors and are effective for 2018.
All Day Pleasure Division
The Board of Directors sent out a membership survey in 2017 regarding the All Day Pleasure Division( ADP), including outlined rules, definition and requirements. Following membership input, the following updates within the ADP division are detailed below:
The ADP Division has grown extensively over the years into one of our biggest divisions. Due to the expansion of this division, ADP division exhibitors will now be required to have a current NWHA membership or purchase a temporary show card to exhibit. This change aligns the ADP division with all of the current NWHA divisions offered.
This update does not affect youth exhibitors, in any NWHA division, memberships for youth will remain as optional. However, only memberships guarantee inclusion in NWHA programs including the annual High Point competition.
In addition, cross-entering between All Day Pleasure and Country Pleasure Divisions will NOT be permitted at the 2018 National Championship show. Cross entering of All Day Pleasure and Country Pleasure is permitted at all other events, and will be at the discretion of show management
As per the NWHA protocol for rule changes, a rule inquiry and proposal was received regarding the age definition of Junior Horses. The NWHA board released the required 60 day membership survey which concluded on February 8, 2018, seeking input on whether Junior Horse should be defined at 4 & under or 5 and under. Based on nearly 70 percent support for the change to 5 and under, the following rule revision and updates are made regarding the definition and status of Junior horses:
5.4 Age Classes B. Horses 1. For show purposes, a Junior horse is one that is five years of age or younger as of Jan 1 of the competition year, including the age sequence as outlined in section 5.4B as applicable.
7.5 Size Division of Horse and Pony C. A mature horse is one that is over six years of age.
All other rules associated and as affected by this rule change will be updated accordingly in the 2018 Rulebook.
Thank you for taking the time to help your leadership team make these informed decisions and changes to move our organization in the member driven direction as desired. We look forward to implementing these revisions this year and thank you again for being part of our evolving association
