" Lindsay has such a strong sense of responsibility to her academics , family , friends and horses it astounds me she is only 10 years old ! She has a " straight A " report from school and manages to mentor other students that are having difficulties . Her teachers have many positive things to say about Lindsay ' s generosity ". - Susan Smith
Lindsay accompanies her mom to the majority of her brother Jacob ' s daily practices and cheers him on at his travel soccer games . Jacob is very protective of his little sister and he is always on the rail for her horse shows cheering her on ! Lindsay has a new mare named Molly that she has ridden in limited shows and managed to win the Ride for the Roses High Point award . Of course Lindsay has ridden Gambler ' s Golden Flame to numerous blues this season , but the work she has committed to showing Flame really shows her commitment to horseback riding . Lindsay has trained with Flame , helped with the transport to and from shows ( packing all the show gear and unloading all the show gear ), CLEANING that long white tail , feeding , watering and mucking Flame ' s stall at shows . She has done it all . If it needed to be done , Lindsay never gave any sign of reluctance , she just pitched in and GOT IT DONE ! She always has a smile and enthusiasm at horse shows . She LOVES horses , she draws horses , she reads all horse books , she even writes her own stories about horses ! If there was ever a " horse crazy " little girl , it would be Lindsay Atkins . She rides as often as she can given that she has to help out with chores on the family farm and helping her Mom with the cadre of rescue dogs that call the Atkins farm home now . Lindsay ' s commitment and dedication to those poor canines that have found a soft place to land with her family is heartwarming . To be so young and so giving and patient with those less fortunate is really what sums up Lindsay . Flame loves her for good reason . She is a kind and gentle soul , as well as one heck of a rider !
