Covid pandemic brought many changes to our world and one of them was the restrictions on gatherings , which included horse shows . Keeping with our tradition of being the leader in gaited dressage , NWHA offered a Virtual Gaited Dressage Spring Series . This allowed our dressage riders to safely show their dressage moves .
Here ’ s how it happened : Videos were submitted to the judges on the NWHA Virtual Dressage Facebook page . The arena could be grass or other footing and didn ’ t have to be fancy , as long as there were markers at the corners and main letters that the judge could see . Smartphones worked well recording the videos .
The series ended up with 160 total rides . WDAA and NWHA tests were used in all the dressage levels and tied by Youth , Adult Amateur , and Open classes . Novice classes were offered for riders new to dressage . All of the judges were USDF licensed . Series awards by division and class were presented for NWHA members who participated in at least 2 of the 3 shows .
Congratulations to all of our riders !
Plans for a fall series are underway .
