highest integrity, honesty and good moral character. Ideally, their selections will represent a regionally diverse group, with demonstrated knowledge and experience. This team is scheduled to present the recommended slate to the Board of Directors in June. In other news, I’d like to welcome a new partner to NWHA - Angela Wright, owner of IB Smart Design, who will serve as our new NWHA National News Editor. Angela joins us with more than 15 years of experience in designing and developing marketing and communications assets across healthcare, educational and industrial portfolios. Please join me in welcoming Angela to the team. This year, we will feature a pre-National issue in August and a post-National issue in October – both great opportunities to advertise your National contenders and National champions for 2018. I’d also like to sincerely thank Lauren Dawson Fleisher for her tremendous commitment, service and support leading the NWHA National News over the last two years. Lauren has been a valuable asset to our organization – and I cannot thank her enough for all she has done and continues to do for NWHA. Lauren will continue as an integral part of the organization – designing the 20-year anniversary and Wounded Warrior t-shirts and promotional ads. As many of you know, I like to discuss financial stability – a lot. And you may get tired of hearing our good news story – but to me – it’s a key measure. As a BOD, we continually analyze our financials and it’s thrilling to see NWHA able to begin advertising campaigns across publications like Sport and Trail magazine, invest in a redesign of our website, offer Horse Show Development support to new and existing events – all current activities NWHA has supported over the last several months. This is truly an exciting time and new journey for the National Walking Horse Association. Lastly, I want to thank each of you for your continued support and dedication. Personally, I’m proud to be a member of the National Walking Horse Association. And I’m firmly committed to its steadfast success and growth. I’m confident each of you as members will propel us forward even faster. I look forward to working with each of you throughout the coming year. Please continue to share your thoughts and ideas as we move forward. Let’s make it a great year for NWHA together! NWHA National News / June 2018 3
