Welcome to the 2017 National Walking
Horse Association National Show
The 2017 National Show is more than just a horse show – it is an event and a
time to celebrate. We travel many miles to compete, visit with our horse family
and friends and celebrate our sound, naturally-gaited horses.
And many of us have been preparing for this event for months – whether as
a part of a committee, a volunteer or an exhibitor. Many hands and hours of
effort go into making the National Show the best it can possibly be. I want to
personally thank all of our hard-working members, our volunteers, our spon-
sors and our exhibitors for the endless hours of thought, time and support. I’m
certain that this year’s National Show will be one to remember.
We are blessed with unequalled members and supports – and as a result - each
and every National Show continues to thrive and grow. The passion, teamwork
and enthusiasm from our member-driven committees is second to none. And
I’d like to thank them for their tireless efforts.
This year we’ve added to our youth recognition as well. Amazing silver buck-
les by Molly’s Custom Silver, and donated by John Nagel, will be awarded
to the winner of the All Day Pleasure Youth Championship, Country Pleasure
Youth Championship and the Trail Pleasure Youth Championship. Let’s make
sure we cheer on our youth contenders as they ride for Championship honors.
Keep your eyes on the silent auction which will be set up directly outside of
the show office. Our members and supporters have been busy for months cre-
ating and gathering amazing items for the National silent auction. I expect a
great deal of spirited bidding this year.
Get your dancing shoes ready for the wine and beer night party – and of course
dance off. We have a talented DJ standing ready to mix up tunes to show off
your dancing skills and secret moves. And plan on sampling some of our states
finest wine and brew – truly and event that shouldn’t be missed.
