Commodore’s Report First and foremost may I thank you all for your continued support during what has been a fairly difficult year for your Management Committee, who have all been working hard to ensure that the improvements made to the Club’s financial situation continue throughout the year. I am very happy to report that at this stage our trading position is much improved when compared to recent past years. This does not mean that there is not still a great deal more work to be done by us all to secure our financial future in the long term. In particular we really do need you the Members to use the Club more often and all to do your utmost to recruit New Members to join us. Our social programme over the year has been very successful overall and included a wide range of new and varied events which have generally been well attended; Thank you. Of particular note within the programme were our Annual Dinner Dance at the St Georges Hotel, which was again very well attended with an excellent dinner and all the normal dancing and fun. Our President Terry Worthington and Dot as usual organised this event and I would thank them both sincerely for their tremendous work to make it the success that it so obviously was. The New Year’s Eve Party organised by Martin Bushnell and Alan Courtney was also adjudged a great success by all you “Cowboys and Girls” who attended. The “fastest draw” competition, with electronic monitoring was won by Val “Annie Oakley” Moss! Big John Broadhead again provided the musical entertainment; Well done all! The ongoing social programme up to the Fitting out Party is already posted on the club website; this will be added to with the Summer Programme in the near future. On the Sailing front our 2014 programme was really successful with a wider variety of Members boats than ever before participating in many interesting and varied events. The biggest success of all was our Bart’s Bash race; this was part of a worldwide attempt by the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation charity to break the world record for the biggest ever sailing race, with all the funds raised by the event being donated to the foundation. I am pleased to report that our NWCC event was, in terms of the amount of money raised for the charity the Number 1 event in Wales and 40th in the whole world out of the hundreds of clubs that participated. Boats from all over North Wales competed in our race and enjoyed a fantastic social event at our club on the preceding evening and a great race on the big day. An enormous “well done” to Steve Gorst, our Sailing Captain and all his helpers for their work on behalf of both the event and the club. From the New Initiative perspective I am happy to report that the Cadet Recruitment drive did achieve a measure of success and that some of the Cadets who joined have been active in sailing with boatowning Members.
