When your guests arrive, set the TV channel to a cozy fireplace scene or a snowy landscape for some ambience. Add sconces on either side to give it a bit more elegance.
Think too about adding a faux mantel underneath the TV so you can lay some garland on it or hang some Christmas stockings. Many shelving styles these days have hidden brackets so the shelf appears to float, giving it a more modern look. They come in multiple colors, lengths, and thicknesses, too. If you want to take the faux mantel idea a step further, arrange batterypowered LED lights in a cluster on the floor beneath the shelf to mimic a fireplace. Or just put the lights in vases of varying sizes on the shelf.
Of course, to make your home look crisp and bright, you’ ll want to do some deep-cleaning tasks like vacuuming under the furniture, touching up any nicks or scratches on
your wood floors, and throwing all your pillows and blankets in the washer to freshen them up.
