EMS IN A CLINICAL SETTING

HOW EMS CAN POSITIVELY IMPACT DEVASTATING DISEASES
BY DR . STEPHEN J . SHAPIRO , MD , FACS
DR . STEPHEN J . SHAPIRO is a general surgeon in Beverly Hills , California . He received his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and has been in practice for more than 20 years . Following his education , he was board certified by the American Board of Surgery . Dr . Shapiro completed his surgical training at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where he was the Clinical Chief of Surgery at the institution for many years .

The use of electrical stimulation for pain and other maladies goes back over three thousand years . The realization that this approach also has significant applications for both fitness and rehabilitation is a more recent observation : with the use of TENS and other electrical modalities .

Great strides in EMS ( Electro Muscle Stimulation ) have been made during the past 10 years . Several major advances in the understanding of electrical frequencies , wave configuration , wave amplitude combined with Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) have broadened our understanding of the relationship between the Human body and electrical stimulation .
The proper use of EMS can energize up to 90 % of muscle fibers during exercise , which includes a vigorous workout or even simple walking . The modality is also effective with many sports , including , boxing , golf , tennis , running and many others .
Reviewing In Vitro studies , we observe changes in mitochondrial migration from red muscle fibers to white muscle fibers ( Twitch Fibers ). In addition , we can see changes in arterioles in the local area of muscle that is being energized . With the use of moderate frequencies ( 200-500Hz ) specific wave configuration and feedback from the individual muscle group , EMS becomes a powerful fitness and clinical tool .
Many Clinical studies corroborate the effectiveness of EMS for both the elite athlete and the average person . Studies
have demonstrated improved strength and endurance in multiple studies , including jumping , squats , running , and many more examples of improvement . These studies generally did not include AI which would have further improved results .
The Nuzuna ’ s “ SUPER SUIT ” incorporates the most recent technology into a comfortable wireless bodysuit that also measures cardiac rhythm and other physiologic modalities . The efficiency and effectiveness of the bodysuit allows rapid workouts to be possible . We are in the process of investigating EMS in many clinical settings . We have observed marked anecdotal improvement in several neurodegenerative and neuromuscular diseases . Patients with Parkinson ’ s disease , MS , ALS , Spinal Injuries , IPF , Dubytron Contraction , Osteoporosis have all shown improvement . These diseases and others will be investigated using double-blind studies in the near future .
The future of combing modern EMS with autoimmune is exciting and will revolutionize the fitness and rehabilitation industry . However , the most important advances may be using this technology to assist the clinical course of many devastating diseases .
