Small and big world of glass
Glassblowing skills can only be studied in a few places in Finland . One of them is the Nuutajärvi Glass School ( Tavastia Vocational College , glass crafts ) which operates in the same glass hot shop where the artist Kaj Franck worked during his long career as a glass designer . This training has also brought women to the glassblower ’ s vocation , something previously considered impossible due to very physical nature of the work . Workshops are also organised for professionals and glass enthusiasts . International co-operation is a given , since the glass professionals form a small , tight-knit community , the members of which visit glass-making locations in various countries to work and learn .
