NutriNews Spring 2016 Issue | 页面 3

Letter from The President As courses wind down and the weather warms up, hope indeed springs eternal in the Department of Nutritional Sciences (DNS). I always find the turn of the season to be a good time for reflection, and reviewing the incredible accomplishments of the department always makes me proud to call myself a DNSer. When I became President of the Nutritional Sciences Graduate Student Association (NSGSA) last summer, I was extremely excited to work with a dedicated student council with such a strong history of excellence. My experience this past year has only reaffirmed my suspicion that the DNS student body is one of the most vibrant, welcoming and tight-knit communities in all of UofT. Interacting with students and faculty at various social events and recreational activities has been a highlight of my time with the NSGSA. Facilitating communication and encouraging the development of common interests among fellow graduate students is one of the top priorities of the student council, and it has been truly rewarding to see this come to fruition this academic year. Of course, none of this success would be possible without the extremely hard work of the NSGSA representatives. Working with such an enthusiastic and devoted group of student council reps has been an experience I will never forget. I would like to thank all of you for your hard work and contributions to enhancing the student experience in the DNS. I have made many strong friendships within the council, and I look forward to continuing to work with all of you in the future. I strongly encourage all graduate students to get involved and help continue to make the DNS the great place that it is– I think you’ll find that it will greatly enhance your own experience as a graduate student. Finally, I want to thank the NutriNews Editorial Committee for all their efforts in putting this newsletter together. I hope you enjoy reading about our departmental events and some of the remarkable achievements of DNS students this past year. Good luck with your studies and enjoy the spring weather!
