ALFALFA PV Ultima VR Total Top yielding, high quality Flexibility and performance Ideal under high moisture or irrigation. PV Ultima has a combination of high yield and winter hardiness. PV Ultima is an industry leading alfalfa due to a high fall dormancy rating and strong winter survival combined with high yield multiple cuts. VR Total is a dormant alfalfa variety that reaches the late bud stage three to five days later than the early maturing alfalfa varieties. The maturity difference between VR Total and the early alfalfas continues to widen with VR Total reaching full-flower a week to ten days later. This slower paced growth is a combination of fall dormancy and germplasm that has been selected to mature slowly, and results in an extra week to ten days of harvest opportunity. Pest resistance Resistance to pests is an important selection feature in alfalfa varieties. Pests reduce the yield, persistence and quality of a forage stand. PV Ultima has been characterized for resistance to several important alfalfa diseases and insect pests. HIGHLY RESISTANT Bacterial Wilt Fusarium Wilt Verticillium Wilt Anthracnose Phytophthora Root Rot Aphanomyces Root Rot RESISTANT Pea Aphids Cutting schedule flexibility In management studies, VR Total has consistently shown the ability to handle aggressive bud or full maturity harvest systems. In the results of two cutting management studies, VR Total was side-by-side with six check alfalfa varieties and VR Total performed competitively. Wheel traffic was applied after each harvest to each variety to further stress the entries. VR Total is featured in our Dualmaster Master Blend.
