Making Jesus Real
Session 2
Jason Marien
MJR is not a program, but a way of life - Christ's way. MJR is easy, you are already doing it. MJR is a simple message, it is part of our lives, the way we live our daily lives. Join Jason Marien, with support from Peter Mitchell, to explore the fabulous success of the MJR program at our local primary schools. This workshop will be valuable for all as you learn about not leaving Jesus as a person in history but making him real for your students.
The Spiritual Practice of Meditation
Session 2
Rebecca French
Why meditate? How does the mind work? What are the benefits of meditation? What are the key aspects to a happy life according to the Buddhist philosophy? How meditation can be used in schools? Join Rebecca for a discussion regarding meditation as a spiritual practice and engage in some guided meditation. Rebecca French has spent the last 19 years going back and forth to India and Nepal studying Buddhist philosophy and completing extended retreats. Five years ago she helped set up the first Buddhist school in Australia, Daylesford Dharma School, and has written a three year curriculum titled ‘Awareness’ for primary school students from prep to grade 5. She has run numerous workshops on a variety of Buddhist topics for students, parents and staff as well as guiding meditation sessions and adapting them for the appropriate audience.
