Nursing Year in Review 2019 | Seite 5

A message from Pat Givens 2019 was one of the biggest years in the history of Nursing & Patient Care Services at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Among our many accomplishments, we opened the doors to our Colorado Springs hospital, submitted documentation for a 4th Magnet Designation, made history as the first American Nurse Credentialing Center ANCC accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Fellowship of its kind in the country and world, and we introduced our Child Health Pavilion, a short leap from the Anschutz Medical Campus. This honorable work builds on the legacy that previous nurses, team members and nursing leaders created here at Children’s Hospital Colorado over the years. What’s more, even more families across Colorado — and the rest of our seven-state region — continue to gain access to our world-class pediatric care. Though I’m proud of our growing mission, I’m most proud of our unwavering commitment to children. Our nurses and interdisciplinary team members continue to innovate, conquer challenges and create improvements in professional practice. This report features stories of such excellence, showcasing Children’s Colorado’s significant contributions to child health and nursing practice as a whole. But, for every success story included in this report, I know that there are countless others happening every day. The Children’s Colorado culture is one of excellence, dedication and teamwork — we couldn’t achieve what we achieve without the help of Patient Care Services (PCS) team members. I’m forever grateful for the support of our Respiratory Therapists (RT), Clinical Assistants (CA), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Medical Assistants (MA), Medical librarians, Mental Health Counselors (MHC), Surgical Technologists, and clinical and non-clinical PCS leaders. When it comes to the health and safety of a child, the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts, and it’s this teamwork that sets us apart as a Magnet facility and a US News & World Report Top 10 Children’s Hospital. As I reflect on our accomplishments in 2019, I’d like to express my sincerest gratitude to each and every one of you — thank you for your bringing your talents to Children’s Colorado. Thank you for your selflessness, for your never-ending kindness, and for choosing to be an integral part of our legacy .. I am eager to see what the future holds.
