‘Welcome’ to Our New Associate Chief Nursing Officer In June 2019, Martha Grubaugh, PhD, RN, NE-BC, accepted the position of Associate Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Critical Care Services for the Anschutz Medical Campus. Martha joined Children's Colorado in October 2018 in a temporary director role supporting the Division of Patient Care Services focusing on staffing, schedule and capacity planning projects, as well as several initiatives related to the 2018 Neonate Strategic plan. In January 2019, she took on additional duties as the interim director of Patient Care Services for Maternal Fetal Care, NICU, Lactation, and the PICU. During this time Martha formed collaborative relationships with many team members and made significant contributions to all the areas that she was supporting. MARTHA GRUBAUGH, PHD, RN, NE-BC Associate Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Critical Care She has over 10 years of pediatric nursing experience including emergency, pediatric and neonatal critical care services in Michigan, Florida and Louisiana and 12 years of leadership experience ranging from clinical manager roles to vice president positions. Martha recently completed a PhD in Nursing at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and her dissertation work is focused on the Nurse Manager Practice Environments. She also serves as a board member with the Colorado March of Dimes and Newborn Hope, and is an active member of AONE, CONL, ANA and the Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau. Pat Givens Accepts ‘Chief Nurse Executive’ Position In May 2019, Pat Givens, DHA, EdM, RN, NEA-BC, accepted the position of Chief Nurse Executive for the Children’s Colorado System of Care. In this role, Pat continues to serve as the Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services and act as the senior nurse executive responsible for all aspects of nursing practice across the organization. She also partners with the geographic and functional leadership across southern Colorado and the Denver metro area to ensure continuity of care, consistency of nursing practice and professionalism, and to advocate for the practice of nursing both within Children’s Colorado and across the industry. 2019 Nursing Year in Review
