Geographical Locations
Children’s Hospital Colorado has sixteen locations across the
Colorado front range, from Broomfield to Colorado Springs,
including a 444 bed hospital on Anschutz Medical Campus.
KidStreet is a single site that provides specialized services for
infants and pre-school age children.
Children’s Hospital Colorado has been in southern Colorado
since 2001. But we are excited announce Children’s Hospital
Colorado, Colorado Springs. This hospital will be the first
pediatric-only hospital in the region. It will be the most
comprehensive children’s hospital between Denver, Dallas,
Phoenix and Kansas City. It will include 110 inpatient beds, the
region’s only pediatric- emergency department and operating
rooms built just for kids and served by pediatric experts who
have dedicated their lives to treating kids – and only kids.
It will also include the region’s first co-located inpatient and
outpatient services for children with cancer. The sleep study
rooms will also be the first pediatric sleep study rooms for
patients in southern Colorado.
Populations Served
Children’s Colorado serves pediatric populations ages 0 to
21 and adult patients with pediatric conditions. Through
collaboration with University of Colorado Hospital, University
of Colorado School of Medicine and Children’s Colorado, we
also serve the maternal-fetal population through the Colorado
Institute for Maternal-Fetal Health, located on the Anschutz
Medical Campus.
KidStreet
KidStreet is a specialized day treatment designed to provide daily
rehabilitation services for infants and children with complex
medical needs. Children receive skilled nursing and rehabilitative
therapy care their medical conditions require, while allowing
them the opportunity to interact with other children.
Nursing Services Provided Advanced Practice Nurses
The practice of professional nursing is under the direct
authority and accountability of the single chief nursing officer
(CNO), Pat Givens, DHA, EdM, RN, NEA-BC, through direct
or matrixed reporting. Nursing services are provided at ten
Children’s Colorado locations as well as additional sites for
neonatal nurse practitioners and school nurses. The vast majority of Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) are employed through the University of
Colorado School of Medicine. The Children’s Colorado Neonatal Program is currently a team
of 100 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) and growing and by June of 2019 will be providing
neonatal care to 11 clinical practice sites across Denver and Northern Colorado to include
level II, III and IV NICU coverage, including high risk deliveries. Our NNP program has a strong
partnership with Regis University as our regional partner for NNP education. The Children’s
NNP Program provides a competitive clinical rotation practice site and provides employment
opportunities for these graduates. In addition, our team has a NNP New Graduate Fellowship
Program and are currently in the process of trying to become the first ANCC accredited NNP
Fellowship Program in the country. The NNPs are employed through Children’s Colorado and
staff the NICU at Anschutz Medical Campus and are contracted to community NICUs:
