STUDENT SUCCESS
Maria Sansom earned her BSN degree from GMercyU in May 2019.
While juggling nursing studies, extracurriculars, and service activities,
she also:
• Participated in GMercyU’s Alternative Spring Break (ASB)
trip to Cincinnati, Ohio. There, her group worked in shelters for
survivors of domestic abuse and other dire situations. Additionally,
Maria took part in the Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic
and provided basic care to residents in the bateys along with peer
students guided by nursing faculty.
• Created a nonprofit called Baby Bundles, which provides
disadvantaged expectant mothers with the basic necessities that
so many take for granted. Each “bundle” is packaged beautifully,
designed to celebrate new lives with joy and honor.
• Won the 2019 Alumni Award for Outstanding Undergraduate
Student
TODAY: Maria currently works as a nurse at Children’s Hospital of
Philadelphia (CHOP).
