NURSING OFFICER

The specialisation of Nursing Officer is part of the Medical Services Profession within the RAF, which also includes Medical Officer, Dental Officer and Medical Support Officers( Mainstream),( Environmental Health),( Physio) and( Pharmacy). Registered Nurse( Mental Health), Registered Nurse( Adult), Environmental Health Practitioner, Operating Department Practitioner, Biomedical Scientist, Radiographer Pharmacy Technician, Dental Nurse, RAF Medic and Student Nurse.
Professions in the RAF are distinct areas of defence expertise where common skills and attributes are required to deliver on demand. Whilst Service Personnel can expect to spend the majority of their career in their chosen Specialisation they may be employed in any of the Specialisations within their Profession: this will depend upon aptitude, qualifications, career aspirations and the Service need.
Unified Career Management( UCM)
Unified Career Management( UCM) is a new approach to managing cadres of people where the capabilities they deliver are very similar across two or more of the single Services( sS). Personnel within UCM cohorts benefit from new and bespoke career pathways which offer individuals the opportunity to progress a career within specialist cohorts. Those joining the RAF as a Nursing Officer will automatically be aligned with UCM Medical Terms and Conditions of Service( TACOS) and offered Preliminary Commission of 6 years
