Nursing Officer Medical Services
The specialisation of Nursing Officer is part of the Medical Services Profession within the RAF , which also includes Medical Officer , Dental Officer and Medical Support Officers ( Mainstream ), ( Environmental Health ), ( Physio ) and ( Pharmacy ). Registered Nurse ( Mental Health ), Registered Nurse ( Adult ), Environmental Health Practitioner , Operating Department Practitioner , Biomedical Scientist , Radiographer Pharmacy Technician , Dental Nurse , RAF Medic and Student Nurse .
Professions in the RAF are distinct areas of defence expertise where common skills and attributes are required to deliver on demand . Whilst Service Personnel can expect to spend the majority of their career in their chosen Specialisation they may be employed in any of the Specialisations within their Profession : this will depend upon aptitude , qualifications , career aspirations and the Service need .
Unified Career Management ( UCM )
Unified Career Management ( UCM ) is a new approach to managing cadres of people where the capabilities they deliver are very similar across two or more of the single Services ( sS ). Personnel within UCM cohorts benefit from new and bespoke career pathways which offer individuals the opportunity to progress a career within specialist cohorts . Those joining the RAF as a Nursing Officer will automatically be aligned with UCM Medical Terms and Conditions of Service ( TACOS ) and offered Preliminary Commission of 6 years
