Many health workers report significant stress
Half of healthcare
workers say their
mental health has
declined
Half of healthcare workers say their mental
health has declined in the last eight weeks, since
the coronavirus outbreak, a survey published in
May has suggested.
The Care Fit For Carers report from the
Institute of Public Policy Research think-tank
found that the Covid-19 pandemic is having
a ‘severe impact’ on the mental health of
healthcare workers.
Many will experience stress, anxiety,
bereavement or trauma, it added.
In YouGov polling of 996 healthcare
employees across the UK, half of staff (50%)
said their mental health had been impacted by
Covid-19, 49% were worried about family safety
and 43% were worried about their ability to
ensure patient or service-user safety because of
a lack of testing and personal protective
equipment.
