Everyone is familiar with the impact of emotion. The concept of evoking a palpable sense of feeling from somewhere deep within is a powerful tool in landscape photography--it involves carefully thinking about what you want people to see, as well as what you want them to feel in response. This goes beyond technique, it’s takes artistic skill to create a response that speaks to someone’s soul.
This issue is filled with formidable landscapes. Each speaking to a feeling. From several coastal pictures with the sea, as always, offering a unique and dynamic beauty very much worth capturing. Colors playing on the pages of light nymph-like blues to deep stormy greys and infallible black. To rocks and mountains, lakes and branches—all of nature and our senses aware of the stiring within.
We have Gobotoru capturing wild fantastical contemporary images —evoking feelings that teeter-totter between dark, harsh, dirty, filled with melancholic and stressed emotions to Thomas Freyer’s light, air, happy and whimsical pictures.
In fine art, melancholy and serenity can be seen being more openly expressed than repressed but it is the partnership with the medium of photography where that expression finds harmony. Coupled with the beauty of nudes as a principal artistic theme aesthetic emotion is catalysed by the models within our pages.
The artist’s in this Landscape issue entail surreal and melancholic scenes where they invite you to interact with both the inner and outer world. The photographer’s use their muses to draw and paint surreal images rich in symbolism and emotion, focusing on themes inspired by human psychology, dreams, and romanticism. Capturing mood, nudity and light against all these formidable landscapes—which one will speak directly to you?
“The work of the eyes is done. Go now and do the heart-work on the images imprisoned within you.” ― Rainer Maria Rilke
