ON THE COUCH - p2 even harder and faster, then I cum, ohhh”, then you will bore your partners to death very quickly. Read some ero c literature to build your vocabulary and word play. Realise that foreplay is just as relevant in SL as in RL. But if you stuff it up a few mes, don't fret, prac ce makes perfect and dare to ask for construc ve feedback. ShyLilGirl asks how she can make friends in SL. “I'm having trouble making friends in SL and was wondering if anyone could get in touch so that we can chat and become friends. I'm normally shy in RL and it's hard for me to take the ini a ve with strangers.” Dear SLG, what a great issue. Lots of people first joining SL find it overwhelmingly strange in so many ways. There is so much to learn too. Mastering all the technical aspects just so they stop draining our brains so much is something to spend me on. It is well worth it. There are lots of 'newbie' or 'noob' helpers in SL, just use the browser search to find them. But special aspect of SL, similar to all online environments, is that you can become the person you would like to be, but find it difficult to be in RL. So rather than just assume that because you are shy in RL, you must also be the same in SL, change your thinking and try using SL to prac ce those behaviours you find it really tough to do in RL. This might well start to rub off back into your RL world as you find these new behaviours are not so scary as you might have thought they were. Try saying something cheerful and appropriate in local chat when in a store, like “Hi, do you know where the group joiner is?” or “Hello, I really like the shoes your avatar has, could I ask where you got them?” And don't forget to look at other avatar's profiles before you say anything to them that is too specific, you can avoid some obvious blunders that way. Once you have broken the ice with the first “hello” you also need to know how to keep a conversa on going. That tends to dis nguish the socially successful from the ones that basically never get past “Hi.” Try con nuing with, “Thanks for that. This shop is new to me, do you know if it have lots of good quality gi s?” or “Oh thanks for that store name, would you happen to have their Landmark handy too please?” Going on hunts in SL is also a good way to make friends as you chat to others about where store gi s are hidden. Also try cha ng in open chat at music events, and occasionally try an instant message (IM) to an avatar you want to send a special message to, such as “Oh I just wanted to say I think you have done such a great job on your avatar, it looks terrific.” Or “Gosh your AO is so cute and sexy, can you tell me what brand it is?” Also make sure your own profile is invi ng and friendly and shows you are a fairly confident person who appears to be someone who would be nice to get to know. Get help at the noob centres if you are not sure how to do that, or need help with a profile picture. Before long Miss SLG you will be Miss SeriouslyLovelyGal. Nu Vibez Magazine - August, 2014 - 85
