ABOUT JURIS AMAT
'Juris Amat', Tamiko Rochelle Franklin, was born and
raised in Columbus, Ohio, and earned a Bachelor of
Arts in Linguis cs from An och College, and a J.D. and
Master of Intellectual Property from Franklin Pierce
Law. She is currently on leave as Director of
Interna onal Intellectual Property Legal Services for
Ma jevich Law Offices in Zagreb, Croa a and remains
ac ve as President of the VIPO. Her prac ce is focused
on management and protec on strategies for
intellectual property rights of individual and
ins tu onal clientele. She works as outside counsel for
a number of law firms and corporate clients in crea ve
industries such as so ware, entertainment and new
media. In 2007, she founded the Virtual Intellectual
Property Organiza on, Inc., (VIPO) to support the
community of online gaming content creators and IP
owners by providing dispute resolu on, copyright,
trademark and publicity rights related services, and all
categories of users in and concerned with intellectual
property issues in virtual worlds. In addi on to her
cross border prac ce, Franklin currently serves as Chair
of the Digital Games and New Media, Policy
Subcommi ee of the Intellectual Property Sec on of
the American Bar Associa on and as a member of the
Policy Subcommi ee of the Internet commi ee of the
Interna onal Trademark Associa on. She was referred
to as '”a pioneer in virtual worlds and Second Life," …
and is heavily involved in establishing IP rights in this
