UMAGE
About UMAGE Stuff that makes life wonderful is made by people who are willing to walk that extra mile to give you an extraordinary experience . In Danish there is a word for that very thing . The word is UMAGE . If you make yourself UMAGE it means that you have done something extra – have made an extra effort . And that is what UMAGE does . UMAGE combines aesthetics , simplicity and functionality , and infuse it with craftsmanship and environmental care . The result is exquisite designs with a sustainable edge . Products are flat-packed in stylish boxes , to optimise global logistics , reduce storage and transportation costs , and to make the designs more accessible and affordable . In the process , the carbon footprint on our planet is minimised and the ethical commitment to environmental responsibility is maximised . In UMAGE ’ s pursuit of beauty and sustainability , the design reflects the harmony and distinction of the Nordic landscape - the design DNA is deeply rooted in the diverse urban landscape and raw nature surrounding of Copenhagen , Denmark . Having begun its journey in 2008 , UMAGE has been constantly growing and expanding . Today , UMAGE is present in over 2,000 stores in 60 countries - with Germany and France as the largest markets - around the world . customised with many different colour combinations because legs , seat , and back are available in several colours . The textiles are from Kvadrat , and the leather is from Sørensen Leather . Among the news on the lamp side of things is the Cassini pendant in a black , organic design with both uplight and downlight .
PACKAGING AS STORAGE Packaging is also an area where UMAGE goes the extra mile . To avoid waste , the company designs packaging and boxes which are so nice that consumers use them for storage afterwards . - Unpacking your lamp should be an experience in itself . We provide something extra , and that underlines our whole design philosophy , says Mette Eskerod Foldager . She adds that the packaging policy is in line with other sustainability initiatives at UMAGE , such as donating 5 % of the value of every polypropylene lamp shade sold to Plastic Change , or planting a tree when wood products are sold . At the time of publication , UMAGE plans to participate at Maison & Objets in Paris in March 2021 . In August , UMAGE hopes to return to Formland in Herning . Keep an eye on umage . com for updates about show appearances .
