UMAGE is a Danish design company currently in its 13th year . It was originally called VITA copenhagen but changed to UMA- GE in 2018 . The name change was done to better reflect the company ’ s big passion for interior items , and a Danish name - meaning to make an extra effort - was chosen to highlight its proud Danish design heritage . NU visited UMAGE at its offices in the heart of Copenhagen . Here , we were presented with a range of exciting new items and further developments of existing products for Spring 2021 . Flexibility , great colours , and multifunctionality are key tenets of the design , and both furniture and lamps are designed with longevity in mind .
LONG-LASTING DESIGN - We often unveil news that encourage you to keep the lamp or piece of furniture that you originally purchased . As a consumer you may want to renew your home with a new colour or an accessory that adds an extra function . And we offer that . In that way , we try to discourage a throwaway mentality . An example is the Stories bookcase that we launched last year . It is essentially a classical bookcase , but it can be expanded upwards , or you can add a side table or a tray set . Other examples include a lamp where you can swap out a brass top for a steel top and an armchair that you can reupholster . With our zippered upholstery you can simply zip off the old and zip on the new , begins Head of Communications Mette Eskerod Foldager , who we met for a talk about the new collection . She continues by saying that black oak is a material that UMA- GE has high expectations for during the coming season . - The Treasures cabinet is available in black stained oak , which suits the bright , French rattan really well . The armchairs A Conversation Piece and The Reader are also available in black stained oak and come in different variants with either textile or leather upholstery .
