PRESIDENT'S LETTER
W
elcome to the latest issue of NTX Magazine, published by the
North Texas Commission!
This is an issue we’ve been wanting to do for some time: examining
health and wellness in North Texas.
Not only do we look at the hospitals spanning our region – and
with nearly 100 meeting residents’ healthcare needs – but we feature
unique programs that bring care to the patients. We also look at how
architecture and construction firms bring state-of-the-art design to our
newest healthcare facilities.

There is a focus on educating our doctors and nurses. With a rapidly growing population, the need
for caregivers to keep the pace is important. Higher education institutions across North Texas offer
a multitude of programs to fill that need, including a new medical school opening in 2019.

Once we educate our doctors and nurses, many of them stay here; but we also have numerous
medical professionals flocking to North Texas. Here they find a strong quality of life and hospital
systems that support their practices. And, attracting the best of the best means North Texans have
access to exceptional care.

I
echo my predecessor in welcoming you to North Texas. Like some
of you, I’m a recent “re-plant” having come back to the North Texas
area after spending several years in our state’s capital, and I’m thrilled to
be back in North Texas and serving as the President/CEO of the North

This is just one lens with which to look at North Texas. If you step back you’ll see that it’s a
vibrant, growing region of 7.4 million people with a new person added every 3.6 minutes. You’ll
find that our economy is diverse and that we’ve got an international airport that reaches all major
continents. And, you’ll find that our local elected officials are truly warm and open, and eager to
work with businesses.
