President’s letter The Brightest Comes to North Texas W e all know that the stars at night are big and bright in North Texas, but did you know that students, pilots, doctors and first responders are among the best and brightest? And, did you know that men and women from all across the world come to North Texas to sharpen their skills and learn a new trade? As we developed this issue, we quickly understood what makes North Texas a knowledge destination. State-of-the-art facilities, easy access and innovative thinkers top this list, but passion is an underlying driver to what makes North Texas great. Here in North Texas, you’ll find the passion to train firefighters from around the world on how to quickly and safely extinguish an aircraft fire. You’ll find educators so passionate about teaching future generations that they can revitalize a college in an underserved community. In North Texas, you’ll find a company passionate about energizing and supporting women and minorities. It’s this passion for knowledge that drives North Texans to share best practices and key learnings. As a region of 6.8 million people and more than 150 communities, we know firsthand that collaboration is the key to building a better future – for not just North Texas, but for everyone who visits our region. One of the most important gifts we can bestow upon our residents and our guests is knowledge. “In North Texas, you’ll find passion, innovation and inspiration.” Mabrie Jackson President and CEO Marketing and Communications Intern Holly Norris Creative Manager Dennard, Lacey & Associates A PROFILE OF THE DALLAS/FORT WORTH REGION Writer Rachel Hedstrom Copyeditor President and CEO Christina Weeks Mabrie Jackson Executive Vice President Marcellette Sherman, CAE, CFRE Vice President, Communication Kimberly Walton Director of Personnel and Accounting Dawn Miller Marketing Events Manager Britton Cunningham Senior Executive Administrator/ Board Liaison Tina Citizen 2 www.ntc-dfw.org FALL/WINTER 2015 Editorial Board Chairman, Stephen Tolerico, Sewell Automotive Companies Liz Beauchamp, Atmos Energy Keith Bird, Alcon Laboratories Daniel Gandarilla, Texas Health Resources Jennifer Hawkins, Tarrant County College District Dr. Joe May, Dallas County Community College District Jason Meyer, Cooksey Communications Lori Stahl, UT Southwestern Medical Center Allison J.H.
