What Moves Us in North Texas
I
n the past, regions built on a cornerstone of logistics and distribution relied
heavily on water; either an ocean or a large, navigable river. In North Texas,
the air is our sea, and the vast network of our highways is our rivers.
It is because of this and a diverse and well-educated workforce that North
Texas has risen to become one of the top inland ports in the United States.
Our logistics infrastructure is anchored by DFW International Airport.
This airport is routinely ranked as one of the world’s best in terms of
operations and customer service. And, with our center-of-the-U.S. geographic location,
destinations on both coasts and internationally are easily accessible.
We succeed in logistics because of our highway network. As the crossroads of I-35, I-45
and I-20, along with several robust Texas highways, North Texas enables trucks to easily
move goods from east to south, and north to west.
Our logistics success also lies in the miles of Class I train tracks traversing the region.
With BNSF Railway headquartered in Fort Worth along with a strong presence of Union
Pacific and Kansas City Southern throughout the region, commerce moves through the
heart of North Texas.
Let’s not forget that for some people, logistics is more than the movement of goods; it’s the
movement of life-saving organs. There is no more precious cargo than a grandfather’s heart.
And, of course, we don’t just move the goods; we make them, too. Innovation is key in
North Texas through groups such as Dallas Makerspace and Tarrant Makers in Fort Worth.
In this issue of NTX Magazine, our goal is to share with you what moves us in North
Texas. From saving lives to making children smile, logistics is an important part of what
moves our region forward.
Ensuring your success is what moves North Texas.
“The strength of North Texas’s innovation lies
within our people.”
